When is the best time to move?

The busiest times of the year to move is May 15 through to September 15. Movers get booked up fast and rates go up for some movers. If you can move during non-peak times and are flexible, you can find great rates and more availability. We recommend when you are trying to schedule your move that you should be flexible with your move dates. Staying flexible will make your move less stressful.

Should I tip the movers?

Accepted Answer

Tipping should be based on the service that you receive. If you are not receiving good service, we recommend that you shouldn't be obligated to tip. Tipping needs to be reserved for the moving staff who do the job to your satisfaction. When a mover goes out of their way to accommodate you, then you should consider tipping accordingly. Also, consider the people are doing all the physical lifting.  If they did a good job and the moving company was was difficult to work with,  tip them directly.

How do I prepare for the moving day?

Morrison Moving will contact you the day prior to your moving day to make sure that you are aware of what time they will arrive. We recommend that you are flexible during this time to ensure a stress-free process.  If you require any changes, please call us to make us aware of your required changes. Please advise us of any local construction issues, items that need to be disassembled,  etc. Have your home ready for the staff by moving things out of the way, clear your porch, walkways, remove rugs and loose floor coverings.

What happens when a moving consultant comes to my home for a quote?

When a moving consultant comes to your home for a quote, they will survey the goods in your home that need to be moved. The consultant will calculate the number of movers needed, the truck required, the weight, packing requirements and any other charges that may be related to your move. We recommend that you show everything that you want to be moved so that the moving consultant can provide a reliable estimate.Sometimes a moving consultant may ask to go through your closets, cabinets and other areas in your home. This helps them determine how many boxes that may be required.

What should I do with my valuable items when moving?

We highly recommend that you take all your high-value and irreplaceable items with you to your new location. These items include money, antiques, jewelry, stamp collections and other personal items with a high value.

How much advanced notice is required when booking a moving company?

We recommend that you give as much notice as possible. Movers can book up quickly months in advance, especially during the summer. We suggest that you should contact a mover at least six weeks prior. Never leave it to the last minute.

Morrison Moving and other moving companies will not move the following items:Cash, Computers, Aerosol cans, Ammunitions and Explosives, Combustible Items, Flammable Items, Gasoline, Hazardous Materials, Paint, Plants, Jewelry, Legal Documents.

A moving consultant job is to look over your home and all your belongings so they can give you the most accurate moving and storage quote. They will calculate the size and weight of your items,  the truck size that will be required and any other additional costs that you will encounter.

Hiring movers is a great investment! However, not all movers are equal when it comes to service. Make sure you cross check the movers that you are interested in. Check their reviews and testimonials by using Google. All you have to do is type the name of the moving company and name of the city into Google.  Pick a mover with great feedback to ensure that your stuff arrives on time and budget.
