Sadly the coronavirus COVID-19 as spread in Ontario Canada forcing us to shut down non-essential services, practice social distancing, and have altered our lives. The pandemic has affected the health of so many people, and nobody knows how long it will take to get back to normal. Many non-essential services have been ordered to close by Premier Doug Ford, and every day new rules, guidance, and guidelines are being released. Social distancing is the best way to help stop the spread of COVID-19. This will help to keep our families and our friends safe.
This crisis happened so quickly, and no one was prepared. Lots of people had already given their notice to their landlords, closed on the sale of their homes, or purchased new homes. Unfortunately, this isn't something that can quickly be canceled or postponed.
At Morrison Moving, we promise to do whatever it takes to help make our clients moving day stress-free. We will be following the health guidelines and recommendations to ensure that our customers and staff always remain safe and healthy.
To help you move safely during this COVID-19 pandemic, we asked our moving experts for their advice and tips.
The easiest way to make sure that the COVID-19 virus is not contaminating your items is to deal with them yourself. Here are some DIY moving options that you could consider:
Using a Rental Truck
If you pick to rent a moving truck, you and your helpers will be the only ones handling your items. It is recommended to complete moving in just 1-2 days maximum to get the best value and cost savings.
Asking for Help
It best to ask friends that are not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or sick in general. Make sure that you have gloves and sanitizer. Remind your helpers not to touch their mouth, eyes, or ears. Ask them to sanitize their hands and wash them frequently. Be careful and take your time.
Using Self Storage
Most self-storage companies do offer short term rentals, which can come in handy if you need to move out quickly and store your items while waiting to get into your new property.
Advantages of using a Full-Service Mover:
Instead of trying to cope with all the stress of COVID-19, packing, moving, and unpacking outsource this to Morrison Moving. Our moving crew can take care of all the details for you. You don't even need to be there if you're worried about your safety. You can give all the instructions to our movers by phone. Our staff will have all the personal protection equipment, including masks, gloves, clothing, and hand sanitizer. We have strict and extensive cleaning and sanitizing practices for our moving equipment. Our trucks, dollies, and other equipment are sanitized after each move. We also carefully monitor our staff for symptoms and ask them to stay home if they are symptomatic. We also offer short- and long-term storage solutions.
Hire Cleaners or Clean Before You Move into a New Home
It is recommended to hire some professional cleaners to sanitize your home before you unload your moving truck. This can be done while you are moving out of your old location. Attempt to get the keys in advance to get a head start on cleaning if you are doing it yourself. The COVID-19 virus can survive on objects and surfaces from a few hours to a few days, according to the Government of Canada's COVID-19 awareness resources. Make sure you use the right store-bought sanitizing and disinfectant cleaning solutions for your home. We recommend that you do some research on the right chemicals to use different hard surfaces. Consider using a steam cleaning machine or professional carpet cleaning service to clean and sanitize your carpets and rugs.
